  This pharmacy now records codeine purchases. I actually don't have an issue with that provided that they use the secure system created for that very purpose. However, they have decided to record the sales on a notepad that is kept at the counter. I've worked in pharmacy for years and that is just not acceptable. They are taking down personal details that should be kept secure, yet it's kept on a simple notepad. If you're going to record sales, you should be using the secure system created and used successfully by many other pharmacies. There is basically no accountability if that information goes missing or is stolen and there is no way to notify unsuspecting customers that their personal details have been compromised. As silly as it sounds, I once worked in a pharmacy that recorded certain sales the old school way of hand writing in a notebook. One day a guy came in, walked straight up to the counter where the book was kept (he seemed to know exactly where it was), reached over and took the whole book. This note book contained not only names and licence numbers, but DOB as well. I will not be returning and I hope others read this and go elsewhere if they are needing to purchase any kind of codeine product.
